FAQs

For general information about content, scheduling, and organization of the remote training workshop, visit the Workshop page.

Is the workshop remote or in-person?

The workshop will be conducted remotely via: synchronous sessions; asynchronous procedures and data collection; and, online resources.

Each cohort will have a synchronous virtual session every Monday for the duration of the 4-week workshop.

Surgical procedures and data collection will be done asynchronously with the aid of online resources.

Are there specific dates for the workshop?

The workshop is organized into 10 cohorts that will each last 4 weeks in order to provide users with support from group leaders and to facilitate communication between users.

During the 4-week workshop curriculum, users may join a synchronous virtual session every Monday. Group leaders will review goals and online resources for the upcoming week and will provide users with an opportunity to discuss challenges from the previous week.

When will I know what cohort I am in?

Registrations that are received before August 6, 2021 will be assigned to cohorts the following week. Registrants will be notified of their assigned cohort along with dates and times of synchronous virtual sessions.

What is the expected time commitment for users?

The time commitment may vary based on the previous surgical and electrophysiology experience of each user. For all users, there will be a synchronous virtual session every Monday for the duration of 4-week cohort.

For a novice user with less than 1 year of surgical and electrophysiology experience, you can expect to spend 2 full-day sessions (6-8 hours) per week.

For an experienced user with 3 or more years of surgical and electrophysiology experience, you can expect to spend two half-day sessions (4-6 hours) per week.

How will I learn surgery and electrophysiology remotely?

Our workshop organizers have assembled a host of resources including: written protocols, instructional videos, and online forums. During the weekly synchronous remote session, a group lead will review the relevant online resources with users.

Written protocols and instructional videos will provide the basis of instruction for implanting the arrays.

Community forums will be organized topically and will enable users to ask their own questions or post answers for questions from other users.

Group leaders will be able to facilitate support for users who are participating in the active cohort.

How long will online materials be available to me?

Online materials including written protocols, instructional videos, and online forums will be available to you at the beginning of your cohort. Following completion of your cohort, online materials will remain available to you.
